Why does Aryan migration theory offend Indians ?

  • Lack of understanding of what the theory is about.
  • Widespread misconception that Sanskrit is the mother of all languages. Interestingly this belief was propagated by the colonials who get blamed for concocting this theory.
  • Lack of awareness about the existence of different language families in Indian subcontinent.
  • They Fear that the theory might end up dividing north and south.
  • A long standing belief that — all this is European propaganda. The theory is seen as a part of British divide and rule
  • Fear of people losing faith in Hindu scriptures. The very fact that Vedas were composed by people whose ancestors came from elsewhere is unthinkable for some people.
  • Misconception that the term “Arya” did not denote a race.
  • Recent propaganda by indologist that genetics disproved the theory.

Four different major human migrations into Indian subcontinent happened in the past.

Out of Africa migrations :

The recent African origin paradigm suggests that the anatomically modern humans outside of Africa descend from a population of Homo sapiens migrating from East Africa roughly 70–50,000 years ago and spreading along the southern coast of Asia and to Oceania by about 50,000 years ago.
